Linoprinter - by Mattel
This is sort of a dumb one - yes it's small, yes it works, but it's just lame. I couldn't even bring myself to photograph the printing press itself, as there's a perfectly good image of the press on the outside of this box. It seems to work something like a ditto machine, and it requires some sort of special tape to create the type. Blech. Mostly plastic, too. What was I thinking?
I think the most offensive part of a toy like this is the predetermined printing plates. Let the child make their own images, write their own headlines, and set their own stories in type!
