Vacuum Formed Subterranean Fort Project

Wood Form

So the whole idea with vacu-forming (vacuum forming) is to make a mould around which the thin sheet of plastic is pressed using vacuum pressure. The form can't have any 'undercuts' or the plastic sheet won't come off the form!

I've made this form using birch plywood cut on my bandsaw and sanded using the beltsander in the woodshop at work. Each of the pieces has a 10% angle so that it won't catch the formed plastic. The negative areas in this photograph (the flat parts) are going to be removed in the final product, I think, but I'll still need to build it up with plasticene.

Now with plasticene!
