Wrapping stuff

These kinds of drawers - and all houses have them - make me think of elementary school, probably because of the lunches I took everyday. My mom would make some sort of sandwich, always on wheat bread, with an apple or a banana, some chips or cookies in a sandwich bag (never ziploc), and a little note written on the paper from the roll of notepaper beside the phone.

Those notes were invariably nice, and often had something to say about what was going on that particular day, and were always signed Love, Mom. The funny part, looking back, is that unlike most other forms of maternal affection this one wasn't in the least embarassing to me -- in fact, I think I was sorry for my friends that didn't get a note like that every single day. I never saved any of the notes, and I don't think it was something I consciously looked for, but I would have been pretty worried had there not been one in my lunchbag.
