This was the first thing I wanted to change in this house. But I started to gouge the screws out (they were plugged up with putty) and stopped. Now it holds some stuff I don't often use, but like to look at.

This was a prize from a party at the Upchurch's. The concept was simple - bring a gift (under $5) that you would like to receive, and wrap it. Everyone that brought a gift was then given a number out of a hat, and was allowed to select a gift from under the tree. That was all very well and good - until the next person selected their gift. Before unwrapping their gift they were allowed to exchange it with the first person, and so it went on down the line, with the last person to get a present from under the tree having the option to select any of the opened gifts. It was actually quite fun, and everyone got into negotiating and trying to sway the choices of the "picker". I brought a really large tape-measure, which was OK, but not as highly sought after as the "Lucky Bamboo" that Carol Candeloro brought. DISCO mukhwas is a sort of Indian sweet eaten after a meal. It tastes like perfume. The little red ribbon has a reversed swastika on it, which is a good luck symbol to the Hindi, I believe. |
