Unknown Press - 1902

Unknown press, with Pat. 1902 markings

Patented in 1902, this little press has a particularly strange method of moving - an arm on the right side pulls a lever that brings the printing surface closer to the chase while at the same time twisting a rod that runs through the back of the press to advance the rollers across the platen and type. Because the rod passes through two holes in parts that turn in opposite directions the force required is quite great, and that's why the arm directly connected to the operators advance lever is broken (it's on the opposite side of the press in this picture.) Aside from the that, the press is in pretty good condition, though I've added the missing feed-boards myself.
